This sweet family and I finally had the chance to meet up. We had to reschedule a couple of times…so we were able to get together at last and brave the heat and humidity for an amazing session. Adorable little Dai Lynn was such fun. A typical little one who didn’t want to sit still for a minute…especially to stay for a family photo. I did get some of her playing that brings my heart such joy to look at. I mean just gaze at that smile…it comes from her toes all the way up. I fell in love instantly with her adorable grin that envelopes her big brown eyes…a smile that big comes from a pure heart! And big brother William was such a great help and so attentive to his little sister. I can’t wait to share with you the grins and faces of your children that have brought many smiles to my own heart. Yes Miss Charlee Grace is classy and fabulous! She is a beauty already just like her mama and she must know it…because she gives me a run for my money every time I photograph her. I wouldn’t have it any other way though…it is fun and challenging and rewarding to work with such a little doll and the awesome Mopheads girls! If you live in Fayetteville and go to the most amazing salon (Mopheads) then you probably know Kelly and Charlee Grace. They are such wonderful people who encourage and inspire me and love my vision! One last Michigan post from my recent trip. Emily was my final photo session while visiting and we barely fit it in this time. We were going to do our shoot the day before I left and again there was the threat of rain. It was a cloudy morning, but no rain fell. We were able to get some of the sweet shots here. I love that she wanted to be original in her senior photos. Where I’m from, every senior takes photos on the beach…that is very important there. It was refreshing though, that Emily, wanted her photos taken out on the farm where her horse is kept. There was old, rusty, farm equipment that was so cool to be able to use in the backgrounds. I could go back again and not get bored at this location. Thanks Emily! Hope you enjoy your preview. I know your senior year will be amazing. ~Kristin

Midkiff Family / Southwest Michigan Family Photographer

I had been fighting the rain the whole time I was in Michigan. I set up a ton of shoots and almost every one was threatened by rain. This one was different. It was sunny and beautiful out that day. The Midkiffs were driving up about an hour from Indiana and I was excited to shoot at a vineyard. As I got in my car 10 minutes before we were supposed to start, the skies got black and the forecast changed to rain. I was so nervous as I met up with them and we thought that at least we might have 30 minutes, and since the girls were a little older I figured we could pull it off. We got some family photos done and as I started with the girls the rain came. Mom and Dad were kind enough to hold their quilt over me while I took photos of their daughter in the doorway of the barn. Then, the skies cleared and the sun came out in about 5 minutes! We finished and I have to say God was with me, I got every session in…barely! Have a great weekend! ~Kristin

I’ve been trying to come to terms with the news I’m about to share and it’s not been easy. The reality has not set in completely, but is starting to and I wanted to share with you, my dear clients the news. As you know, we are a military family and have found out that we will be moving from this area in the spring. We will be headed with a large group to Florida, so some of you may come with us, but many of you won’t. I will be very sad to leave my home of 10 years and this wonderful business that God has allowed Cory and I to build. You are not only my clients, but my friends. I have watched many of you grow and your families grow. I’ve seen many of you leave and now I am the one to go. That being said, I am no longer taking new clients. If you are on my book now, that is fine, but I just won’t have the time to give new clients and won’t be able to follow up with you as the years go by. I do plan to come back to the area at least once a year and would like to set up mini-sessions while I’m here, so that I can still be connected with those of you who still want me to take your family photos. I am selling CDs of past sessions now for $199+tax. These are all of your edited images from a session with full copyright release for you to keep and print forever. This price is per disk and is not available for those who have not initally placed an order from that session. I will not be carrying all of the disks with me in the move. This is your chance, as I will not have them in the future for orders. One more note, I would like to do holiday mini sessions, but other than that, I will be taking very few sessions in the coming months as we try to spend quality time with our loved ones here and prepare for a new adventure. As many of you know, I recently went on a photography retreat to Napa, California. We are part of an amazing organization called the National Association of Professional Child Photographers. Now about our time in Napa…it was amazing to say the least. I got to meet up with some awesome friends that Cory and I met while at our first workshop over 2 years ago and made connections with new, super talented photographers. I will be making a personal post about our time there later…when I catch up with work. The photos you see here are from a evening shoot in a vineyard (ah heaven) with about 15 families. We were able to run around and shoot some gorgeous children, some for modeling portfolios. Here are just a few from that night. ~Kristin

I love toddlers! their exploration, their innocent smiles, the joy they find in just about everything. Now of course raising a toddler is a daily challenge and joy…photographing them puts a smile on my face every time! It is such a small world…well, really I believe God orchestrates our coming and going and it is cool the way I have come to know this family. A friend of mine from church was friends of the mom in Japan…if you can believe that…and now they are both back in the states and right here. I had such a great time with this family…you can just imagine the fun this mom and boy have on a daily basis and Dad was really having a great time too! I feel so loved and blessed to be asked back by clients. It is one of the highest compliments I can receive and it is amazing for me to be able to come back again and again. The more time I spend with a family, the more I am able to get to know their true selves and we become more like friends. That is the way I feel about this family. I was fortunate enough to photograph them at the beach last summer and then when I got the call that there was a new baby, I was so happy that I could be home to photograph her. She was a bit older than I normally photograph newborns, but we did finally manage to put her to sleep for a little bit. And this little guy, boy do I love him! I chased him around in his battery powered jeep and he thought it was hilarious to act like he was going to let me snap a picture and then zoom off! I smile just thinking of him! ~Kristin

I can truly say that this engagement session was personal to me. Paul has been like family to me for years…as long as I can remember. His mom and mine are best friends and he and my brother grew up the best of friends. My children call his mom “Aunt” and we are together every Christmas Eve. In saying that, Paul is like a little brother to me and I have watched him grow into an outgoing, kind man. I think of going home to visit last year and meeting Lauren for the first time and thinking she was special. I could see something alive in Paul’s eyes…refreshing. At that time I snapped some photos of them together on the beach and they made sure to tell me how weird they felt with me photographing them…like they were engagement photos…and they weren’t there yet! Jump ahead a few months and Paul is planning a super romantic, elaborate proposal to Lauren. What do I think happened? The love of Jesus Christ was/is at the center of their hearts. They met in church, they are surrounded by faithful people to help them along and their eyes were opened to the gift in front of them they had been blessed with. I am so happy and excited to get a new family member in Lauren and to know that they are choosing to go forward with a marriage centered around God’s love. Love you guys and can’t wait to photograph your wedding! ~Kristin

Babies are truly the smallest thing many of us put our whole lives into, as the quotes says. They are fresh and pure and sweet…hope is born again in them. No matter how many bad days I have, the newest little life can give me new breath in my lungs and light in my eyes. I could see the light in this mom and dad’s eyes too. They were so loving and attentive with little Asher. I’m sure that he made them proud when he slept peacefully through the whole session…after a good poop The weather was perfect for our outdoor shots…I mean who can stay awake in 90 something degree, humid, North Carolina, summer weather? Surely not the little guy, and I could barely stay awake myself after this session! ~Kristin
